I = IRISH WATER SPANIEL, FROM GREAT BRITAIN
Height: 53-61 cm.
Weight: 24-26 lbs.
Eyes: Small, dark, bright.
Ears: Long, fallen on his face.
Tail: Thick, which thins the tip.
Coat: Hair rough and dense rings, burgundy tending to violet.
History:
Their specialty is already explicit in the name: it is an Irish Spaniel adapted will hunt in the water. There have been, however; accurate data on their origens.Conhecido since the beginning of the nineteenth century, but was presumably created by crossover between Barbeto (water dog) and the Irish Setter (one of the hunting princes).
Irish Water Spaniel is to love the water like a fish. So this dog is used in the hunting of wild birds in wetlands, lakes, dams, where the ducks are numerous.
He always went out of the water without a clear coat, very active, cheerful, even after grueling hours of seviço and, what more amazing, completely dry, both for its dense, waterproof hair, oily layer which is by nature providentially placed in his coat.
It is a spaniel would have all the requirements for a great companion dog, but the difficulty in maintaining order in his hair fumbled a bit its diffusion in this direction.
